International Conference 2010-Solar Energy Photochemical Conversion-Amrita University-Kerala

International Conference on Photochemical Conversion of Solar Energy is organized jointly by the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science & Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the Amrita School of Engineering in Coimbatore and International Experts from Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne – EPFL & Swiss National Laboratory for Materials – EMPA for the year 2010

Solar energy is one of the major growth segments globally and 30% of all investments go into solar energy.With over 50,000 villages in India without electricity, solar power can be utilized to its maximum potential to meet rural electricity needs.Off grid photovoltaics technology deployment can be used for lighting and electrification, powering irrigation pumps, providing back-up power for the growing network of cell towers as well as other urban applications. The Indian Photovoltaics Program is at present one of the largest in the world.
