The IIT Madras Symposium is an annually held conference that, to put it simply, aims to introduce and excite students about current pressing problems that Indian society faces and how its solutions might be approached, in a multi-disciplinary and holistic fashion.

Students may apply for one or more of these tracks. Each track contains a link to the prelims problem statement as a pdf file, and a brief description of what kind of work they will be responsible during the collaborative work phase of the symposium.

The paper must be typed single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font and be no more than 12 pages. Only text directly related to the item being presented and any accompanying illustrations, tables, figures, etc., will count toward the 12-page limit. Title pages, tables of contents, and bibliographies shall not be counted toward the limit. All papers should have a bibliography / works-cited page and appropriate footnotes. Papers omitting a bibliography or using plagiarized material will be automatically disqualified. Selected papers/teams will be informed by September 28th, 2009. Read more
